Wow…It has been a REALLY busy week around here…so my blog has been slightly neglected…SORRY about that! I will explain more a bit later. But I do have something for you to see today. I participated in a ‘Color Challenge’ the colors we were challenged with were: Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizazz, Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White and Pumpkin Pie.
I had a really had time with this as Flirty Flamingo is NOT a color that I would normally gravitate towards…It is like a neon pink…so not me! But I actually tried to use it as one of the prominent colors in my card. I chose to use the Flourishing Phrases stamp set as I wanted to use a set that has it all…background, main images, accent images and sentiments and this one fit the bill perfectly!
I started with the background and sponged the heck out of the Whisper White cardstock with Flirty Flamingo ink. Just a portion of it though as I wanted it to highlight the large flowers that I had stamped in Daffodil Delight. The Flirty Flamingo is a really bright pink and sponging softened it a bit…I then used the Flourish stamp in the same Flirty Flamingo color…but as I wanted it a bit softer, like the sponging, I stamped off twice…so the THIRD generation of the color is what you see on the card. I chose my sentiment and as I have started sending out cards…JUST BECAUSE…I used ‘Just a Note’
I then cut out the Daffodil Delight flowers and the Pear Pizazz leaves. I also stamped a couple of extra flowers and just cut out the centers and added those to the middle of my large flowers.
Stampin’ Dimensionals…I LOVE those things…I use those more than the Snail Adhesive it seems. I mounted the flowers on top of the sponged portion of the card. I mounted one flower one dimensional high and on the second flower I mounted two dimensionals high. I then added the pear pizazz leaves and the Pumpkin Pie sequins. I mounted the whole thing onto Daffodil Delight as it was the color I wanted to highlight.
So…I was then finished with my card…but to make it special…I added…STELLA. I seem to use ‘Stampin’ Dimensionals’ and ‘Wink of Stella-Clear’ on every single card I make lately. I LOVE the depth the Stampin’ Dimensionals adds and the sparkle that Wink of Stella gives. These 2 things I never want to run out of and OOPS…I almost did!
I opened my last pack of Dimensionals yesterday…had NO idea that is was my last one as I NEVER usually let my stash get that low. So, I had to place an order…I ordered 10 packages…yep 3,000 dimensionals are on the way to me now. So, my question to you is:
What is your favorite embellishment, tool or technique to use, one that you seem to use ALL the time? Please leave your answers in the comments.
